The Photos in the MLK Reflection Park are from the Dr. Ernest Withers Collection. Dr. Withers was born and lived in Memphis until his passing in 2007 at the age of 85.
Dr. Withers was the personal photographer for Dr. King for 12 years up until the time of Dr. Kings death in 1968.
Dr. Withers is responsible for some of the most iconic civil rights photos that have ever been taken, including but not limited to the world famous photo of the 1968 sanitation workers strike that has become to be known as
"I AM A MAN"
Dr. Withers photos can be seen at 333 Beale St. where his photography studio has been converted to a photo gallery.
